Meet Your Instructor

Logan brings over 10 years of global experience in animal husbandry and regenerative farming practices to this workshop.

As Mama Tree's Animal Systems Supervisor, he oversees our integrated livestock program that works in harmony with our regenerative orchard systems. His engaging teaching style makes complex concepts accessible to everyone, regardless of experience level.

Logan has worked on farms ranging from small homesteads to 900-hectare operations, giving him unique insight into scaling chicken keeping practices for any situation. His Permaculture Design Certification and passion for sustainable animal systems help him teach ethical, effective approaches to raising healthy chickens.

Learning Environment

  • The course will be held at our 20-acre family-owned orchard and organic farm in Upper Ojai. The exact address will be shared upon registration.
  • We will be walking the land for the first part of the day and then sitting down in the orchard near our animals to receive the basic theory on the various subjects involved in holistic animal care.
  • The day then heads into a hands demonstration where staff will show students the various techniques involved in holistic animal care, each student will then have the space and opportunity to take these techniques on for themselves to learn by doing.
  • We will then wrap the day up by giving the participants a time to unpack what they have learned by asking specific advice or general questions about their herd or flock in a Q&A style setting.

Book learning is great, but when it comes to learning about comprehensive multi-input systems like regenerative farming, nothing beats seeing it in action. There is so much information about how it all works together that you can only get with your with your six senses & boots on the ground.
