We'll chat about the basics of agroforestry and silvopasture design & management and reasons why we do things we do, while planting and tending these systems.
Come be part of various planting workshops this year, and a crucial part of converting an old conventional dehydrating monocrop orchard into various diverse, multi-purpose, hydrating agroforestry systems, silvopastures, and interconnected wetlands.
Establishing a two-row hedgerow along the eastern boundary of our pasture. Reducing wind erosion, soil dehydration, and pesticide drift, increasing diversity, wildlife corridor and habitat, and slowing sub-surface water flow
Expanding our diverse & multipurpose agroforestry strips on contour, establishing new silvopastures.
Tending, densing, replacing, expanding some of our older plantings.
We'll use a laser level and hand tools to re-grade a contour swale trough to be 1% off-contour, potentially more spillway/rock armoring.
Space is limited to ensure everyone will have room to contribute to the hands-on practical learning opportunities.
