Sauerkraut 101

Join us for a morning of learning the art of fermenting vegetables with brine in Sauerkraut 101 led by our resident home fermentation enthusiast, Natalie. Sauerkraut is the probiotic and vitamin-C rich food, made by fermenting cabbages with just sea salt.

Natalie makes sauerkraut every two weeks for her family and is excited to share the wisdom she's gleaned to spread the joy and health benefits of homemade sauerkraut.

In order to keep costs down for attendees, this is a "bring your own" supplies workshop - participants will bring their own cabbage, knife, cutting board, large bowl, glass weight, kitchen scale, sea salt, and jar.

Sunday, March 1st 10am - 12pm

Natalie will provide organic cabbage, salt, a mason jar, and a mini jar weight. Please bring your own knife, cutting board, large bowl, and kitchen scale (if you have one).

Where: Mama Tree is located in Upper Ojai, less than a 15-minute drive from downtown Ojai. Exact address and driving directions will be sent to you upon purchase and registration. Carpooling is encouraged to reduce traffic and wear and tear on the property.

Who: This will be a small event with only 9 tickets available. This offering is aimed towards adults but well-focused kids age 10+ are welcome to share 1 ticket to attend with adult crafting supervision. Only 1 tag-a-long child per adult please. This will not be an opportunity to roam the farm or pet the animals.
